About me~
Hi my name is Kathy and my pronouns are She/Her.
Originally from the prairies, I spent the majority of my life living in Southern Alberta, yet my heart always felt most at home when my family would travel to BC. I came alive inside when I was surrounded by mountains, trees and water. I've always had a fascination with nature; I was the child who filled my pockets with treasures of rocks, leaves and feathers and have collected crystals for as long as I can remember.
After completing my BA in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge I had the privilege of working with children and youth through; The YMCA, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lethbridge, Lethbridge School District #51, Palliser Regional Schools and Holy Spirit Catholic Schools. While I've worn many hats; case worker, youth advocate, classroom assistant and child and youth care worker my main focus has always been helping and healing others. My path hasn't been without its bumps and challenges. Being subjected to bullying throughout my school years as well as experiencing loss as a child and young adult helped to shape me as a CYCW. Often my work focused on bullying, grief, anger management, social skills and self esteem.
My husband and I settled in Lethbridge to raise our two children and I was fortunate enough to spend a large portion of their childhood as a stay at home mom, while also helping with our small businesses. Once both our children graduated we decided to follow our hearts and relocated our lives to Vancouver Island. The call of the ocean and energy from the mountains and trees were just too strong to ignore any longer.
While my journey towards energy healing and crystals began many years ago as a teen attending my first psychic fair I didn't fully pursue it until a few years ago when I took my first Reiki course from Ilse Ambrose owner of The Soul Sanctuary in Lethbridge. Ilse is an amazing intuitive soul who sparked my curiosity about energy healing. Once on the island I was fortunate enough to meet Dawn Kirkham from the International College of Energy Healing and Hidden Gem Metaphysical Store.
Through Dawn I expanded my knowledge to learn more about the vibrational energy connection between all things: humans, plants, animals, the Earth and the universe. I became a certified Advanced Crystal Therapy Practitioner and furthered my Reiki healing studies. The more I learned the more I wanted to use this knowledge to help others, and this sparked my desire to create Hawthorn Energy Healing. Since then I have completed my Reiki Master/Teacher, Sound Healing, House Healing and Dowsing Certifications.
Doctors have drawn a direct correlation between unmanaged stress and disease. Yet as a society, we are forever being told to push forward, stay in constant motion and made to feel that taking time for oneself is somehow selfish. By taking the time to learn to reconnect, de-stress and relax we can build our body's resistance to disease, reignite our body's ability to self-heal and fortify ourselves as a whole.
I feel privileged to help people of all ages move forward in their journey towards inner healing. I also have a passion for working with women who are struggling with the stressors of motherhood and those who may be caring for aging parents. My own experiences with navigating chronic illness within my family, stress from parenting and supporting a loved one through palliative care allow for a supportive understanding, non-judgmental and compassionate experience.
I look forward to connecting and sharing this sacred space with you.
